Clinical research in body composition in oncology.

Researching prevalence of alternative diet and supplement (CAM) use by cancer patients.

Researching access to dietetic services in oncology and patient awareness of the importance of nutrition in cancer.

 

Problem: Malnutrition and misinformation relating to nutrition in the realm of oncology

Actions: Research to scope out the level of the problem with a view to developing appropriate services where gaps are identified

Results: High prevalence of CAM use. Suboptimal referral rates to dietitians during cancer journey. Survival disadvantage to CRC patients losing fat mass during chemo.
